Patina Living Co. is passionate about creating homes that make the everyday meaningful and memorable.

We believe in giving our clients an experience of home that’s brimming with beauty, joy, togetherness, nostalgia, comfort, and belonging.

Gathering around the table with loved ones to share delicious meals; making guests feel welcome, comfortable, and loved; and celebrating occasions both big and small in the warm glow of home. These are the moments we live for, and creating the homes that contain them is at the heart of Patina Living Co.

While our clients love our casually elegant design style, what they love most is the quintessential feeling of home we bring into their designs. To get there, we approach every client’s project like a delightful journey of discovery, as we guide them through ideas and possibilities they’ve always wanted in their homes but never knew how to achieve.

We prove that comfortable, inviting interiors can also be polished. By using tried-and-true, hard-wearing materials such as natural stone, timeless metals, performance fabrics, and solid wood,  you’ll be assured that your home will age beautifully.

By mixing antiques and vintage elements with classic materials and silhouettes, we create spaces that blur the lines between past and present. The result is a winning combination that feels timeless and fresh yet rooted in tradition.

It’s making memories of togetherness and laughter, sharing warm feelings of nostalgia, and gathering with loved ones to celebrate and experience joy. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of time spent at my grandparents’ home. I vividly remember gathering there with my sister and cousins for sleepovers on Friday nights. We whiled away the hours watching classic movies, playing games, and savoring my grandmother’s English - style roast dinner.  Those wonderful evenings usually ended with each of us girls taking turns “swing dancing” with Granddad (or more accurately being swung through the air by him, much to

Renee Yee |

founder &
principal designer

An Australia native with English family roots, Renee’s definition of home is broader than any one single locale. She grew up in Mandurah, a charming coastal town near Perth and, like many Australians, left home as a young adult to travel the world, visiting dream destinations like Bali, London, Paris, Italy, and Ireland. Later, as a military spouse moving often, it became increasingly important to Renee to create spaces that told her family’s story and that truly felt like home, no matter where they happened to be living.

Her love of all things home and her penchant for design grew, and in 2007, she opened Olivia + Rose, a home and gift retail store in Colorado Springs, CO. She went on to seek interior design training from the New York Institute of Art and Design and eventually launched her own firm, Renee Yee Interiors (which became Patina Living Co. in 2021). Now settled just outside of Washington DC, Renee’s fresh take on traditional design is ideally suited for the beautiful surroundings and colonial architecture of Northern Virginia.

When not working on her clients’ projects, Renee particularly loves fueling her creativity by exploring quaint little towns and villages with her husband and three children in tow, savoring the flavors on offer in boutique restaurants, and unearthing her next antique find or vintage treasure in the local shops.
